Do you love to sew?

We are looking for volunteers to sew fabric hearts for families who have babies staying in the NICU.  They must be made with new flannel material and are generally 8" wide by 8" tall.

These hearts are a way of keeping mom, dad and baby close to each other even when they aren't together. When a baby is in NICU, we encourage parents to come back to the Ronald McDonald House for a hot meal, warm shower, and a little rest.  We know they want to be with their babies as much as possible but we encourage the importance of taking care of themselves, too.

One fabric heart is placed with the baby, to soak up their sweet newborn smell.  The other fabric heart is worn my Mom or Dad against their skin.  Research shows that babies can recognize their mother's smell right way!

The hearts are exchanged at each hospital visit in order to promote bonding.

If you can help, please drop off or mail the hearts to RMHC of Western Montana, 3003 Fort Missoula Road, Missoula MT  59804 or contact Teresa at 406-541-7646 or twindham@rmhcmt.org.

Thank you.
